Senior Civil Engineer – Limerick Office

PUNCH Consulting Engineers has a vacancy for a Senior Civil Engineer based in our Limerick Office.

PUNCH was founded in 1973, we have offices in Limerick, Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Glasgow. We work on a broad range of projects across such sectors as healthcare, education, conservation, retail, residential, civil infrastructure and environmental. Job Description:

Chartered Senior Civil Engineer with experience of civil engineering design consultancy

  • The work will be primarily office based
  • Regular site inspection work will be required
  • Responsible for detailed civil engineering design of drainage, water, roads, traffic and transportation assessments, etc
  • Responsible for the technical, managerial and commercial aspects of your projects.  Your work will be carried out in accordance with the company ISO procedures
  • Effective delivery of projects to include preparation of all contract documentation, project costing, budgeting, programming, attend / chair site meetings, measurement of work for payment purposes, manage contractual issues, site monitoring to ensure compliance / site supervision, contribute to the handover of completed projects
  • Prepare risk assessments, health & safety plans
  • Check concept and technical correctness of work prepared by staff reporting to you
  • Effective communication skills to facilitate written and verbal interaction with colleagues, team members, contractors and Clients
  • Demonstrate efficient work practices, avoiding abortive work, working within budget, tracking extra services and ensuring the effective use of resources
  • Develop new Client relationships and manage established Client relationships
  • Develop the skills of staff that report to you through mentoring, delegation and training

Candidate Specification

  • Chartered Engineer with experience of civil engineering design in an enginering consultancy
  • A sound understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus, ability to apply engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems
  • Familiar with the Irish Planning process including dealing with Irish Water connection application process
  • Significant base of IT skills including MicroDrainage, Junctions 9, MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, AutoCAD and specialist civil engineering design software
  • Independent judgement in the application of engineering science and knowledge including complex design, construction and management
  • Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct human, material and financial resources required to solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams
  • High level of commercial understanding and application
  • Understanding of the Irish regulatory and policy issues
  • A successful track record working closely in partnership with clients and contractors and other members of design teams
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • A positive, proactive approach with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios
