David O’Donovan



David is a Chartered Engineer with experience in Consulting Engineering since graduation in 2004.

David joined PUNCH as a Graduate Engineer in 2004 and has become an invaluable member of the staff progressing to Design Engineer in 2006 and Project Engineer in early 2007. Having worked for BGM Consulting Engineers in Dublin between 2008 and 2014, David re-joined PUNCH as a Senior Engineer in January 2015 after where he worked on a diverse range of projects across a range of different scales and complexities. David has almost 15 years of project related experience and has also served a period of time on site as a Resident Engineer on a HSE project.

David has worked on a variety of residential housing schemes, commercial and institutional projects for both private and public sector clients. These projects have included large scale housing developments, business parks, university buildings, healthcare buildings, hotels and more recently a number of inner city refurbishment projects involving conservation. David primarily works in the structures division of Punch however throughout his time as an engineer he has also acquired the necessary skills to undertake civils design for the projects that he is involved with.

David has also completed an ACEI course in Designing for Safety in Construction which enables him to assist with Health & Safety aspects of projects. Due to his acquired building experience David is a very practical designer ensuring that adequate consideration is given to the buildability of his designs while maintaining an efficient design solution.

David has a keen interest in all sports; Rugby, GAA and enjoys 5 –a-side football. Being from a coastal town David enjoys all ocean related hobbies. He also has a keen interest in DIY and gardening.
