Rossaveal Harbour is the main fishing harbour of County Galway, and is the primary ferry port for vessels making the trip to the Aran Islands. The harbour is currently undergoing redevelopment by the Department of the Marine to improve safety of access for ferry passengers. PUNCH Consulting Engineers was engaged by Design and Building Contractors L&M Keating Ltd. to perform an independent review of the Marine Civil Engineering design of the six proposed pontoon berths for passenger vessels in the harbour, as well as other civils works associated with a new marina and offshore navigational aids. Primarily, this assessment comprised checking of the detailed design calculation to ensure conformance with relevant standards, and recommended best practice.
