PUNCH are Civil/Structural and Transportation Engineers on the prestigious large scale development at City Block 9

PUNCH Consulting Engineers are Civil/Structural and Transportation Engineers on the prestigious large scale development at City Block 9, Dublin Docklands, which has recently been submitted for Planning. The site is circa 1.88 Hectares and will be split between two separate commercial and residential developments.

The proposed residential development contains 420 no. dwellings, and 1526 m2 of commercial space, including retail space, tenant amenities and a crèche. The two residential blocks range in height from 11 storeys to North Wall Quay to 7 storeys to the interior of the development, over a combined single storey basement car park.

The proposed commercial development shall provide 35,883m2 gross floor area of office and retail space between 4 separate buildings, ranging in height from 8 storeys to North Wall Quay, to 6 storeys to the interior of the block, as per the SDZ development parameters. The four blocks share a podium area, over a single storey basement of 7307m2 gross floor area containing plant, car and bicycle parking, and shower facilities.

There are two separate Architectural firms, Shay Cleary Architects and O’Mahony Pike Architects on the Residential and Commercial developments respectively and while both buildings are significantly different, they complement each other excellently. Both buildings present complex structural engineering challenges in which PUNCH Consulting Engineers are looking forward to developing post planning.
