PUNCH Provided Full Civil and Structural Engineering Design Services for Broome Lodge on Behalf Cluid Housing.
PUNCH were delighted to provide full Civil and Structural engineering design services for the Broome Lodge 43 Unit Senior Citizen Apartment Scheme in Cabra Dublin 7 on behalf of Cluid Housing.
The development was recently opened by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy TD and Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure & Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD and Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mícheál MacDonncha.
Broome Lodge is specifically designed to promote independent living in an age friendly society. Universal Design is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability or disability.
Benefits of the approach include greater independence for residents and the elimination of the need for retrofitting or adaptation costs.
The entire Broome Lodge complex runs on an energy efficient heating system and combined with an affordable rent, this helps combat fuel poverty and supports residents to minimise their living costs.
The Cabra development cost just over €8 million while the average cost per apartment totalled just under €190,000.
PUNCH is very proud to use our Engineering expertise to contribute to projects like this which are so important to our society.
